According to Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma are now set to sign PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum (31), after the Parisians have green-lit a loan-to-buy deal for the Dutchman – final documents are now being prepared for the midfielder.
Whilst it was reported by Le Parisien that salary demands held up the deal, it now looks as if the former Champions League and Premier League winner with Liverpool is finally set for a move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.

The midfielder joined PSG on a free transfer from Liverpool last summer, signing a contract which sees him earn a €9m yearly salary – which, if he joins Roma, will have to be massively decreased in order to make the deal financially viable. Wijnaldum has already removed all references to PSG on his social media, despite being under contract until 2024. He made 38 appearances in all competitions in what was a largely disappointing first season in Ligue 1.
He has generally been anonymous and ineffectual in games, whilst also being included on Luis Campos’ list of 11 players that he wants to sell this summer – being left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s recently-concluded pre-season preparations in Japan and Tel Aviv.
